Establishment Card in Qatar: Issue and Renewal
The establishment card, also called the establishment ID or computer card, is the Ministry of Interior’s record of your company, its activity and the people allowed to sign for it. It is issued automatically with a new commercial licence through the Single Window for QAR 200, shows in the Metrash app, and is used for staff work permits and visas.

What the establishment card is
The establishment card is a licence from the Ministry of Interior. It records the sector and activity of the company and names the people allowed to sign for it at the ministry.
When you apply for a work visa or a residence permit for a member of staff, the ministry checks the request against this record.

How to get an establishment card in Qatar
For a new company the card now comes with the licence. The other routes are for a branch, or for a card that was not issued at that point.
- Licence through the Single Window
When you use the comprehensive incorporation service or the commercial licence issuance service, the establishment registration is issued automatically. The QAR 200 fee is paid on the Single Window.
- Find it in Metrash2
The card then appears in the Metrash2 app. It can also be collected from the Single Window office, the General Directorate of Passports or a Ministry of Interior service centre.
- Or request it in Metrash
A person authorised in the CR and licence can request a card for the main office or a branch: General, Establishment, then “Issuance of a main and Subsidiary Registration”. The CR and licence must be active.
- Or apply at a service centre
Bring the form signed by the authorised signatory, copies of the CR and the commercial licence, and the signatories’ ID cards.
Establishment card renewal and changes
Since 1 July 2024, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Interior renew the establishment registration automatically when you renew the company’s CR and commercial licence through the Single Window. The updated card then shows in Metrash.
To renew it on its own, or change what it records, use the Metrash2 update service after the change has been made at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

What needs an active establishment card
Keep the card active and its signatories up to date. These requests use it:

Online inquiry
The Ministry of Interior website shows the registration details from the establishment ID and the signatory’s QID.
Digital copy
A digital copy of the card sits in the e-wallet of the Metrash2 app.
Metrash alerts
Companies can subscribe to Metrash free with the establishment number and a contact person’s QID.
Cancelling the card when a company closes

Valid residence permits, valid visas and vehicles come off the card first.

The commercial registration and commercial licence must be cancelled already.

The authorised persons do it in Metrash, at no fee. That is why it is one of the last steps.

What is a company establishment card in Qatar?
A licence the Ministry of Interior issues to any company or project with one worker or more. It shows the company’s sector and activity and lists who may sign for it at the ministry. Labour approvals, work visas and residence permits for staff are all filed against its number.
Are the computer card and the establishment card the same?
Yes, one card with several names. “Computer card” is what most people in Qatar say; the Ministry of Interior writes establishment card or establishment ID, and the Residence Law regulations use قيد المنشأة (establishment registration). Do not confuse it with the commercial registration, which comes from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
How do I get an establishment card in Qatar?
For a new company it is issued automatically when the commercial licence is issued through the Single Window, for QAR 200 paid there. It then appears in the Metrash2 app. A signatory can also request it in Metrash for the main office or a branch, once the CR and licence are active.

How do I renew my establishment card?
Mostly it renews by itself. Since July 2024, renewing the company’s CR and commercial licence on the Single Window renews the card too. A separate renewal is done in Metrash under General, Establishment, Update/Renew Establishment, for QR 200. Signatory, address and activity changes use that same Metrash service.
How can I get or download an establishment card copy online?
Open Metrash2 and look in the e-wallet: the Ministry of Interior put a digital copy of the card there. We have not seen an official page for printing or downloading it outside the app. To read the card’s details on the ministry’s website, enter the establishment ID and the signatory’s QID.
