Payroll and WPS Services in Qatar
Payroll in Qatar runs on a fixed clock. Under the Labour Law, a month’s wages fall due on the 1st and have to reach each worker’s account at a financial institution in Qatar through the Wage Protection System (WPS) within seven days. We prepare the payroll and the salary file, and check every payment against those rules before it leaves.

The Wage Protection System
WPS is the Ministry of Labour’s check that wages arrive on time. Pay goes out in Qatari riyals, by transfer to the worker’s own account, so an envelope of cash handed over on payday does not count as paying the wage at all.
Monthly and yearly staff are paid at least once a month. Anyone else, a worker on a daily rate for instance, is paid at least every two weeks, with the wage due on the first day of each period.

Common questions about payroll services and WPS in Qatar
What does WPS mean in Qatar?
The Wage Protection System. Think of it as the Ministry of Labour watching the payroll: employers under the Labour Law pay through a bank or other financial institution in Qatar, and a month’s wages must go out within seven days of falling due on the 1st. A payroll sent on the 10th is already late.

How does payroll outsourcing work in Qatar?
You keep the bank account and the final say, and the monthly cycle moves to us. You send the month’s joiners, leavers, leave and overtime. We work out each worker’s pay, check it against the minimum wage and prepare the salary file in your bank’s format. Once you approve it, you or your bank send it through WPS by day seven.

How do I check a company’s WPS status?
Hukoomi, the government portal, lists a free Ministry of Labour e-service that lets an establishment check its subscription and transfer to the Wage Protection System. You enter the QID, mobile number and establishment ID. Should it show a gap, we go back through the payments and records with you to find the month that went wrong.

What does the Labour Law say about WPS?
Article 66 of the Labour Law (No. 14 of 2004) sets the rule. It says riyals, not another currency; a transfer into the worker’s account at a financial institution in Qatar, not cash; and at least one payment a month for monthly staff. The seven-day deadline is not in the article itself but in Ministerial Decision No. 4 of 2015, amended in September 2026.
How much is the basic salary in Qatar?
QAR 1,000 a month in basic wage, at the least. If you house and feed the worker yourself, that is the whole floor. Provide neither and the floor rises to QAR 1,800, since QAR 500 for housing and QAR 300 for food go on top. A contract can promise more; it can never promise less.
